While the Climax-Scotts-Martin co-op wrestling team will be competing as a team at the Division 4 Team State Finals February 23 and 24 at Wings Stadium, six team members will also be competing at the Division 4 Individual State Finals March 1 and 2 at Ford Field in Detroit after earning top four finishes at the Individual Regionals last Saturday at Mendon.
Logan Gilbert (106-pound weight class), Cole Reitz (120) and Haylen Buell (132) placed first, Jayce Ritchie (126) and Jackson Bagwell (144) placed third and Sam Bleeker (215) placed fourth.
Falling short of a top four finish was Max Bleeker (285), Seth Toris (138), Logan Curry (126) and Kristian Heighton (113).
Malcolm Smith also qualified for the individual regional competition but had not yet been cleared to wrestle by a doctor after a medical incident at the team regionals.
Gilbert, now 45-3, pinned his first two opponents in 1:02 and 2:17 respectively before winning a 14-2 major decision in the championship match.
Reitz, now 33-10, won his opening match by a pin in 34 seconds, recorded an 11-4 win in the second round and won by an 8-5 decision in the championship match.
Buell improved to 38-4 by recording a pin in 28 seconds, a 2-1 decision and a 1-0 decision in the championship match.
Ritchie, now 26-3, won his opening match by a 7-3 decision, lost his second round match 3-1, defeated his Bronson opponent 5-2 and defeated his Lawton opponent in the third and fourth place match 4-1.
Bagwell, now 47-10, went 3-1 on the day for his third place finish. He opened with a 7-3 win, lost his second round match 6-1, and rebounded with pins in 1:52 and 4:02 respectively.
Sam Bleeker, who improved to 34-13, pinned his opening round opponent in 2:34, lost his second round match in 3:13, remained alive with a 4-3 sudden victory win in his third match and settled for a fourth place finish when he was pinned in 2:08.
