C-S hopes to build momentum in
final two regular season games

The Climax-Scotts girls varsity basketball team hope to begin district play next week with some momentum, however the team will be hoping the offense picks up as well.
C-S, which entered play February 27 with a 13-5 record, managed just four points in the second half in its 37-22 loss to Mendon February 23 at C-S Jr./Sr. High School on senior-parent night.
Seniors recognized were Jaise Lane and Lillie Edwards.
Despite cold shooting most of the night, the Lady Panthers were still in the contest at halftime, trailing by a 28-18 count.
C-S’ defense kept the team within striking distance in the second half when Mendon’s offense also took a nose dive, scoring just nine points.
An Addy Reeves basket with 7:23 left in the third quarter was the only points the Panthers scored in the quarter and Mendon took a 31-20 lead into the fourth quarter.
Seven turnovers and 1-for-9 shooting prevented the Lady Panthers from mounting a come back.
C-S did not score again until Reeves scored with 4:11 left in the fourth quarter to produce a 35-20 deficit.
Six points from Sophie Braithwaite and Addy Reeves and five points from Holly Talbert and Lillie Edwards was the only offense for C-S.

Strong Defense Lifts Lady Panthers To 49-23 Win Over St. Philip
Strong defense and consistent execution at the offensive end of the floor helped the Lady Panthers to a 49-23 win over Battle Creek St. Philip February 20 at C-S Jr./Sr. High School.
C-S used a quick start and strong defense when the home team held St. Phil to just one free throw to move in front 15-1 after one quarter.
The Tigers outscored C-S 13-12 in the second frame for a 27-14 halftime deficit, however the home team put the clamps down defensively in the second half by holding St. Phil to just nine points the entire half.
A three-point basket was all the Tigers could muster in the third quarter and the Panthers widened the lead to 24 points (41-17) after three quarters.
Holly Talbert, who only missed one of her 10 two-point attempts, led C-S in scoring with 19 points to go with six rebounds, three assists and four steals.
