Webinar looks at ‘Prosecuting the Drugged Driver’

The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan will present the Traffic Safety Training Program Webinar “Prosecuting the Drugged Driver” on Thursday, March 28, from 8 a.m. to noon via Zoom.

Drugged driving is a growing public safety threat on today’s roads.  Impaired driving cases involving substances other than alcohol can be challenging cases to both investigate and prosecute.  This training will provide law enforcement and prosecutors with the tools and resources they need to effectively investigate and prosecute drugged driving cases.

Topics Include:

• “Overview of the Michigan State Police Toxicology Lab” presented by Nicholas Fillinger, technical leader of the Toxicology Unit of the Michigan State Police

• “The Seven Drug Categories” presented by Sergeant Kevin Lee of the Michigan State Police

• “Benzos Behind the Wheel” presented by Kyle Butler, Ionia County prosecuting attorney

This course is approved for 3 hours of credit under PAAM’s recommended CLE Best Practice.

To register for this free webinar, visit https://michiganprosecutor.org and click on “training calendar.”  After registering, pending approval, attendees will receive a confirmation email from Zoom with instructions on how to join the webinar.

Anyone with questions or in need of any assistance registering for the webinar should contact Amy Gronowski at gronowskia@michigan.gov or at 517-643-2114.
