Ryan Pejakovich, Maximus Wurtzel are all-state at Boys JV Powerlifting State Meet

Climax-Scotts powerlifters Ryan Pejakovich and Maximus Wurtzel earned All-State status at the Boys JV Powerlifting State Meet March 2.

Pejakovich set two state records at the event, breaking  the  squat and bench press state records on the way to a second place finish. Pejakovich, competing in the JV 220-pound weight class, recorded the third highest total of any lifter in the State with 1345 pounds. He had a squat lift of 525 pounds, a bench lift of 320 pounds, and a dead lift of 500 pounds.

Wurtzel placed third in the JV 114-pound weight class with a squat of 205 pounds, a bench press of 130 pounds, and a dead lift of 280 pounds for a total weight of 615 pounds.

Body Vosburg placed sixth in the state in the same weight class with a 215-pound squat, a 110-pound bench press and a 245-pound dead lift for a total weight of 570 pounds.

Alex Wurtzel also competed in the 114-pound weight class and finished 12th with a 185-pound squat lift, a 95-pound bench press, and a 240-pound dead lift for a total weight of 520 pounds.

C-S finished in fourth place with 22 points. Schoolcraft won the event with 45 points, Lowell was second (31) and Cos-Lex was third (28).

On Saturday, March 9 at Lake Orion, C-S’ Cole Curtis will be competing in the Varsity State Championships in the 114-pound weight class.
