ADTC?to host annual golf outing June 3


The Association of Defense Trial Counsel is pleased to announce its annual golf outing for Monday, June 3, at Western Golf & Country Club, 14600 Kinlock Rd. in Redford Township.  The outing will begin at 8 a.m. with registration and breakfast then a 9 a.m. shotgun start with lunch to follow.

Justices of the Michigan Supreme Court and judges of the Sixth Circuit of Appeals, the Michigan Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb County circuit courts have been invited as guests of the ADTC.

Cost is $180 per golfer and the complete package consists of 18 holes of golf on a Donald Ross-designed course in a private club setting, breakfast, refreshments on the course, and a late lunch of bruschetta chicken or grilled salmon.  Prizes and awards will be presented after the scramble.  Cost for lunch only is $70.  Collared shirt and rubber spikes or spikeless shoes are required.

Professor to discuss origins of Roman law June 20


The Italian American Bar Association will present Wayne State University Professor Raffaele De Benedictis on Thursday, June 20, beginning at 6 p.m. at Club Venetian Banquet Center, 29310 John R. Road in Madison Heights.  De Benedictis will discuss the origins of Roman law and its influence on American law.

De Benedictis is associate  professor in the Department of Classical and Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.  He is the author of three books and of various articles on Dante, semiotics, and Italian culture.

Professor to present on Copyright Claims Board and trolling


The Intellectual Property Committee of the Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, will present an online luncheon & learn program on “The Copyright Claims Board & the Fears of Copyright Trolling” Wednesday, June 19, from noon to 12:50 p.m. via Zoom.

Speaking at the online program will be University of Detroit Mercy School of Law Assistant Professor Melissa Eckhause who is the co-director of Detroit Mercy Law’s Arts &?Entertainment Law Clinic.
