Five members of the Galesburg-Augusta varsity baseball team earned post season recognition, including one player who was selected to four post season recognition teams.
Collin Hatton, Ethan Gibson, Jaden Fawcett and Kameron Prince were all selected to the SAC First Team and Alex Krugh was SAC honorable mention.
Hatton and Gibson were named to the All-District First Team and Hatton received First Team All-Region honors.
Hatton was also selected to the All-District Academic team.
Hatton hit an impressive .429 (30-70), had a .581 on base percentage and .800 slugging percentage. Hatton banged out nine doubles, one triple, had five home runs while driving in 28 runs. The G-A slugger came through in the clutch often as well, hitting .433 with runners in
scoring position. He struck out just five times and added 12 stolen bases.
Gibson produced the same .429 batting average (39-91). He finished with a .544 on base percentage and .505 slugging percentage. Gibson drove in 21 runs, had seven doubles and stole a team high 28 bases on 29 attempts. He drew 18 walks and struck out just seven times. In the field, Gibson had a .915 fielding percentage, committing eight errors in 94 total chances.
Gibson also pitched in 13 games this season, compiling a 6-2 record with a 3.21 ERA. Opponents had a .214 batting average against him in 32 and two-thirds innings pitched. He struck out 37 batters and issued 25 walks.
Fawcett posted a 5-1 record on the mound with an impressive 1.93 ERA. He struck out 53 batters, including 14 batters looking and walked 28 in 43 and one-third innings pitched.
At the plate Fawcett batted .155 (11-71), with three doubles and 10 RBI.
He had an .837 fielding percentage, committing eight errors in 49 total chances.
Prince finished the season with a .318 batting average on a team leading 27 hits (27-85). He drove in a team high 30 runs, had an on base percentage of .376 and a slugging percentage of .388. He added six doubles.
Prince also saw action in three games on the mound, compiling an 0-1 record with a 4.94 ERA. He struck out four batters and walked five.
Krugh had a nice season both at the plate and on the pitcher’s mound.
While he compiled a 4-3 record on the mound, Krugh finished with a nifty 1.32 ERA. Opponents batted just .178 against him. He struck out a team high 68 opposing batters, including 24 looking, and walked 27 batters.
At the plate Krugh finished with a solid .395 average (32-81) and knocked in 21 runs. He struck out just three times and had a .509 on base percentage and .420 slugging percentage. He added seven stolen bases.
Krugh finished with a .904 fielding percentage, committing five errors in 52 total chances as an infielder.
G-A finished the season with an 18-11 overall record.
