When in Rome
The Italian American Bar Association (IABAM) presented Wayne State University Professor Raffaele De Benedictis (fifth from right) on Thursday, June 20, at Club Venetian Banquet Center in Madison Heights. De Benedictis discussed the origins of Roman law and its influence on American law. Welcoming De Benedictis for the presentation were (l-r) IABAM Treasurer Stefania Gismondi, Macomb County 37th District Court Judge Michael Chupa, Macomb County Circuit Court Judges Joseph Toia and James Maceroni, Lisa Gigliotti, Macomb County 37th District Court Judge Steven Bieda, IABAM President Anthony Nardone, IABAM Secretary Simone Fabiilli, IABAM Vice President Angelo Donofrio, and IABAM President Elect Salvatore Amodeo. De Benedictis is associate professor in the Department of Classical and Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. He teaches courses on Dante, Petrarch, Machiavelli, Castiglione, Italian Culture, and Literary Criticism. He is the author of three books and of various articles on Dante, semiotics, and Italian culture.
