G-A school board, teachers reach 1-year agreement

The Galesburg-Augusta Board of Education approved a tentative 1-year agreement with the district’s teachers at a special meeting July 29 at G-A High School.

G-A Education Association Chief Negotiator Eric Curtiss said the teachers also approved a tentative agreement.

G-A Superintendent Lindsey Newton said the new agreement includes schedule A wages for 2024-2025, steps, lane changes and longevity. The two sides will meet before November 1 after the audited
student count to bargain any on schedule and/or off schedule compensation in a wage reopener. The parties will only bargain scheule A wages.

The two sides also agree to eliminate step 1 from the 2023-2024 salary and add a new step at the top of the salary schedule.
