C-S Board of Education Approves
Wrestling Co-op Arrangement with Martin

Because Athens dissolved a co-op arrangement the Climax-Scotts and Athens wrestling teams have worked under the last two years, C-S has been left searching for other co-op options in an effort to fill out a complete wrestling squad.

A unanimous approval by the Climax-Scotts Board of Education at Monday’s regular meeting that will allow the wrestling program to enter into a co-op arrangement with Martin moved the program closer to solving the dilemma.

Athens dissolved the co-op arrangement because the Big 8 league Athens is a member of, would not recognize Athens or C-S wrestler’ accomplishments at league events as long as they were participating as a co-op.

High Speed Trains Could Begin Passing Through Galesburg In 2015

The process to accommodate high speed Amtrak trains through the City of Galesburg with infrastructure adjustments is well underway, but Galesburg residents aren’t likely to begin seeing the high speed trains pass through the City until sometime in 2015 according to a Michigan Department Of Transportation spokesperson.

MDOT Spokesperson Michael Frezell said while there are stretches of the Amtrak line from Detroit to Chicago that can already accommodate high speed rail traffic, there is a significant amount of rail that still needs the infrastructure adjustments similar to what is nearing completion in the City of Galesburg. To accommodate high speed train traffic in the City, MDOT raised the south side rail about four inches to create a slight curve.
Frezell said current stretches of railroad that can handle high speed trains that reach 110 mph, are west of Kalamazoo to Porter, Indiana.
