Bernard Gottfried Labor Law Symposium at Wayne Law Sept. 26

The 29th Annual Bernard Gottfried Labor Law Symposium is hosted on Thursday, September 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium at Wayne State University Law School, 471 W. Palmer St., Detroit, MI.

Wayne Law Alumni, students and others interested in labor law and employment rights are invited to attend the symposium.

The symposium includes three speaking sessions, in addition to a lunchtime keynote speaker, Donele Wilkins, Founder and CEO, The Green Door Initiative. Wayne Law’s Dean and John W. Reed Professor of Law, Richard Bierschbach will provide opening remarks and Wayne Law’s Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development, Michael Oswalt, whose expertise is labor and employment law, will moderate the panel discussion in session three.

• Session 2: “Debating Labor Law’s Current Events” (Panel)

• Keynote Speaker: Donele Wilkins, Founder and CEO, The Green Door Initiative

• Session 3: “I’ll Be the Judge of That: Insights from the Insiders, ALJ Perspectives”

About the Keynote Speaker:

Donele Wilkins is a trailblazer, community advocate, and true architect of change. Born and raised on the Northeast side of Detroit, she has emerged as a dynamic leader committed to reshaping the narrative of her city. Grounded in the struggles and triumphs of growing up in Detroit and grappling with economic challenges, she found inspiration in the resilience of her community. Her leadership is marked by a holistic approach, recognizing that true renewal requires addressing social, economic, and environmental factors.

The registration fee for the symposium is $155, which includes all sessions, presentation materials, breakfast and lunch. Proceeds from the symposium will be used to fund future educational programs and labor law studies at Wayne Law.
