A popular event that started in 2016 and has changed some, returns with the same spirit of bringing family and friends together to kick off the Christmas season December 7 in the Village of Climax and December 8 in the town of Scotts.

Christmas in Climax, started by former Climax Crescent co-owner Crystal Rolfe and now organized by Kevin Harvey, will feature events at multiple locations throughout the Village of Climax.

Caroling on the Corners in Scotts, also started by Rolfe in 2016, is organized by Rolfe, Jo and Bob Ramsdell and Mark and Bonnie Hanson. This event features activities at the Scotts Lulu’s Café and a tree lighting ceremony.

The traditional outdoor caroling on the corners in front of Soundstage I (the old hardware) in Climax, has been moved inside the Climax United Methodist Church where a concert, featuring the Climax-Scotts High School band and choir, will be featured from 5-6:30 p.m. Singing traditional Christmas carols with group sing a longs will also be a part of this event.

Santa will be at the Lawrence Memorial District Library in the Prairie Historical Society room from 6:30 - 8 p.m., where kids will receive a candy cane and have the opportunity to make a homemade craft item. This event is sponsored in conjunction by the Lawrence Memorial District Library and the Prairie Historical Society.

There will be activities for kids and cookies and hot chocolate throughout the evening at Peace Community Church, 134 North Main Street.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., a tree lighting ceremony will be held in front of the village Christmas tree.

Scotts Event is December 8

Many traditional Christmas time favorites return to the Caroling On The Corners event in Scotts December 8 from 6-8 p.m.

The event kicks off with a tree lighting ceremony in front of the Scotts Community Center at 6 p.m.

The sidewalk will be lit with luminaries for the walk back to Lulu’s Scotts Café.

Lulu’s Scotts Café will then serve as the hub of entertainment the rest of the night. There will be traditional Christmas caroling in front of the Café, Santa will be inside, where more Christmas caroling will take place and free cookies, warm wassail and hot cocoa will be served.
