County reveals write-in winner for Galesburg City Commission Seat

The Kalamazoo County Board of Canvassers has finalized the November 5 General Election, revealing that Anthony Tipken is the write-in winner for a four-year seat on the Galesburg City Commission.

There were four candidates running for three City Commission seats. Roger Frazee, with 477 votes, and Glen Hawes, with 468 votes, were both on the ballot and elected to four-year terms. Tipken and Toni Caswell  ran as write-in candidates.

Tipken received 39 write-in votes and Caswell received 18.

The final write-in totals for the Climax Village Council partial term race revealed Joshua Fleisher finished with 49 write-in votes behind Benjerman Moore, who was on the ballot and elected to a partial term seat.

In the Galesburg-Augusta Board of Education race, Jessica Eberstein (2,330), Gary Gillette (1,575) and Nathan A. Smeltzer (1,859) were elected to four-year seats, and Sarah Davidson (2,607) was elected to a partial term, however Michael Armock received 381 write-in votes.

In the Athens School District, four candidates on the ballot and one write-in candidate were vying for three, four year terms on the Board of Education.

Winning seats was Eric McClure (61 votes), Teri S. Loew (56) and Rachel Hunt (41).

Erika J. Smith received 24 votes and write-in candidate Brian Jackson did not receive a vote.
