Neil Youngdahl elected as council member of State Bar Appellate Practice Section


Grand Rapids-based Varnum attorney Neil Youngdahl has been elected to serve a three-year term as a Council Member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Appellate Practice Section.

Youngdahl is a commercial litigator who specializes in appeals and regularly represents clients at the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the Michigan Court of Appeals, as well as other courts of appeals.

He has successfully argued novel questions of state and federal law, multimillion-dollar commercial disputes and administrative law cases against federal agencies.

Youngdahl is co-chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the Federal Bar Association of the Western District of Michigan.

He also mentors students at Alma College who are interested in pursuing a career in the law.

Newly sworn-in associates join Foster Swift


Foster Swift welcomes four new associate attorneys , who all four got their start at Foster Swift by participating in the summer associate program in 2023 while finishing law school.

They were sworn in by Michigan Supreme Court Justice Brian K. Zahra on November 13.

Mackenzie M. Almassian will continue working in the Grand Rapids office as a member of the Municipal practice group where she will practice in municipal and public entity law, municipal litigation, and administrative law.
She is an alumna of  MSU College of Law.

Charles R. Sarchet rejoins the Business and Tax practice group in Grand Rapids where he will assist with mergers and acquisitions, various tax matters, entity formation, sports law, and employment law. He received his JD from MSU College of Law.

Patrick E. Quinn joins the Litigation practice group in the Lansing office; and James A.Ryan will join the Litigation practice group in the Southfield office.
