C-S Can’t Overcome Slow Start in Loss to Lawton

The Climax-Scotts boys varsity basketball team couldn’t overcome a slow start and cold shooting in a 45-30 loss to Lawton December 17 at C-S Jr./Sr. High School.

The Panthers were able to drop in five-of-six free throws and the C-S defense held the visitors to 3-of-10 shooting overall from the floor to keep the deficit at 14 points (32-18) entering the fourth quarter.

C-S cut the Blue Devil lead down to single digits (39-30) when Wyman scored from in close and Johann Albarren knocked down a three-pointer with 2:42 left, but the Panthers could not take advantage of three Lawton turnovers the rest of the way and missed its final six attempts from the floor, while the visitors made all six free throws down the stretch.

Chase VanMiddlesworth led C-S with 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Panthers had a cold night shooting from the floor, making 20 percent of its floor shots overall including a 7-for-30 effort from two-point range and a 2-for-14 performance from the three-point stripe.
