Litigators from across the country will gather March 4-7 in Miami to discuss recent developments in the legal profession related to whistleblowers, artificial intelligence, cryptocurrencies and the challenges of judging in the 21st century at the American Bar Association 40th White Collar Crime Institute.
The gathering, sponsored by the ABA Criminal Justice Section, will be held at the Hyatt Regency Miami.

“Recent Trends in Criminal Antitrust Enforcement” — Panelists will share their insights on recent developments in criminal antitrust law, Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission actions and cases and corporate compliance best practices given the backdrop of increased antitrust enforcement.

“DOJ’s New Whistleblower Program: Implications for Companies and Individuals” — Panelists will analyze the DOJ’s new whistleblower program and the ethical issues it presents for practitioners. They will discuss the issues that both companies and individuals should consider when reporting pursuant to the program or reacting to it.

“The Challenge of Judging in the 21st Century” — This continuing annual judicial panel explores the evolving task of judging in the 21st century. Five noted federal judges, led by retired U.S. District Judge Bernice Donald, will again consider some of the personal and professional challenges and difficult substantive issues they confront in the daily administration of justice.

“Lessons Learned from Recent High-profile Trials” — Legal experts will focus on recent high-profile trials by the lawyers who tried these cases in New York state court and in Hawaii, California and Florida federal courts. The discussion will consider how to try such cases in the courtroom while dealing with the court of public opinion; what to seek in a jury; dealing with a hostile judge; and other strategic decisions.
