Oakland County is taking action to ease the burden of student loan debt for its residents. The county, in partnership with Savi, is hosting an in-person event to help borrowers navigate repayment and loan forgiveness programs on Wednesday, April 2, at the Oakland County Executive Office Building Conference Center, 2100 Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford.
Attendees will learn how to maximize savings through Savi’s platform, which has already helped 900 Oakland County residents. The event will include a presentation from 6 to 7 p.m., with individual consultations available on a walk-in basis before and after, starting at 5:30 and 7 p.m.
Oakland County Executive Dave Coulter highlighted in his recent State of the County speech that the program has reduced their student debt by an average of $42,000 each.
Residents and county employees can register for the event via Eventbrite at https://bit.ly/3E82Ujc and access Savi’s services free of charge through Sept. 30. With 172,000 Oakland County residents carrying a collective $6 billion in student debt, this initiative provides a critical opportunity for financial relief.
