Baseball team displays offensive potential
Nine players had at least one hit and two pitchers combined on a no-hitter over three innings, helping Climax-Scotts to a three-inning, 17-1 win over Burr Oak April 24 at Burr Oak.
C-S, now 5-1 pounded out 12 hits. Logan Gilbert, who had two RBI, Jackson Knickerbocker, who also drove in two runs, and Jackson Bagwell, each had two hits to lead C-S at the plate. Dane Sattler had a home run and drove in three runs.
Starting pitcher Ben Nelson earned the win with one inning of hitless ball and Lincoln Dzwik pitched two innings of hitless ball.

Strong Pitching Lifts C-S to 10-0 Win Over Mendon
Three Climax-Scotts pitchers combined on a one-hitter, helping the Panthers to a 10-0 win over Mendon April 22 at Bailey Park.
Starting pitcher Gavin Eyre was solid over the first four innings to capture the win. The C-S senior did not allow a hit, walked five and struck out five Hornets.
Battle Creek St. Phil’s Carter Dzwik, playing at C-S through a co-op arrangement, did not allow a hit in one inning pitched. He walked one batter and struck out three.
Kasey Carman finished with one inning pitched, yielding one hit, one walk and he struck out three batters.
C-S was led by Eyre at the plate with two hits, including a double. He drove in two runs.

JV baseball team can’t overcome 20 walks
The Climax-Scotts JV baseball team couldn’t overcome 20 walks and five errors in a 16-12 loss to Galesburg-Augusta April 28 at G-A.
C-S, now 2-3, outhit the Rams 14-6, but five errors led to four unearned runs and three Panther pitchers issued 20 walks.
Alexander Wurtzel, and Nyle Sattler, who drove in three runs, each had three hits to lead C-S at the plate.
Bryce Birkam suffered the loss in relief of starting pitcher Kai Brown.

Golf team finishes 3rd at league Jamboree
The Climax-Scotts golf team finished third at an SCAA jamboree at Riverside Golf Course April 28.
Hillsdale Academy won the event with 176 points. C-S finished with 189 points, six strokes behind second place finishing Colon (183).
C-S moves to 11-5 in the league and 12-5 overall with the third place finish.
Carter Pio’s 44 was low score for C-S. Cole Reitz finished with a 47, and Cole Curtis and Luke Piper each finished with a 49.

Walliczeck, Lawrence break school records
Two school records were set by two members of the Climax-Scotts men’s track team recently.
Senior Luke Lawrence broke the school record in the 110-meter hurdles at the Union City Invite April 25 with a time of 15.58. The old record, 15.61, was set by Scott Bogard.
Gabe Walliczeck broke his own school record in the discus competition at an SCAA meet April 23. The C-S junior had a throw of 151’0”. He broke the school record of 148’10” that was established in 1977 by Don Bailey, April 11 with a throw of 149’7”.
The Climax-Scotts mens track team earned six top three finishes and placed sixth at the very competitive Union City Invite April 25, while the Lady Panther track team had one second place finish and finished in a tie for eighth place.
There was a 45-minute lightning delay at the event.
Coldwater won the mens event with 153 points. C-S totaled 49 points.
Coldwater also won the womens event with 171.75 points. C-S and Colon finished in a tie for eighth place in the nine-team event.
Chase VanMiddlesworth, with a time of 23.52 in the 200-meter dash, Luke Lawrence, with a time of 42.04 in the 300-meter hurdles, and Rosendo Garcia, with a height of 5’8” in the high jump, each finished second to pace the men.
Annabelle Edwards earned a second place finish in the high jump with a leap of 4’10”.

C-S Track Teams Enjoy Strong Effort at SCAA Meet
Nine top two finishes helped the Climax-Scotts mens track team to a second place finish and seven top two finishes helped the Lady Panthers to a third place finish at the second SCAA jamboree of the season at Bellevue April 23.
Hillsdale Academy placed first in the mens event with 181 points and C-S totaled 176.5 points.
The Lady Panthers finished with 84 points, 90 points behind first place finishing Hillsdale Academy.
Sophie Braithwaite earned a first place finish in one event and helped two relay teams to a first place finish to pace C-S in the women’s race.
Braithwaite won the 100-meter dash with a season record time of 13.62. She joined Paige Amos, Addy Reeves and Holly Talbert to win the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 54.63a and the same quartet won the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:57.73.
Annabelle Edwards placed first in the high jump with leap of 4’9”.
Gabe Walliczeck and Luke Lawrence each placed first in two events to pace the men.
Walliczeck broke his own school record in the discus with a throw of 151’0”.
The C-S junior also won the shot put competition with a toss of 47’5”.
Lawrence placed first in the 110-meter hurdles with a season record time of 15.88 and he won the 300-meter hurdles with a personal record time of 41.76.

Lady Panthers drop 2 games
C-S and Kalamazoo Loy Norrix started a doubleheader April 25, but the first game was stopped after three innings because of rain with C-S trailing 8-3. The game was not an official game.
C-S, now 3-2, got off to a good start, pushing three runs across in the top of the third inning. However Loy Norrix responded with a four-run first and tacked on four more runs in the second inning.

C-S Offense Goes Quiet in 10-0 Loss to Burr Oak
The Lady Panthers were held without a hit in a 10-0 loss to Burr Oak April 24 at Burr Oak.
Holding a 1-0 lead after one inning, Burr Oak enjoyed separation with a three-run fifth inning and broke the game open with a six-run sixth inning.
Addy Reeves took the loss on the mound, allowing five hits and eight earned runs in five and two-thirds innings pitched.
