Scotts, Athens students honored at academic event

A Scotts student and one student from Athens participated in Albion College’s recent Elkin R. Isaac Student Research Symposium, and/or received an academic award during the College’s recent Honors Convocation.

For more than three decades, the Elkin R. Isaac Research Symposium has highlighted Albion’s best student research, scholarship, and creative activity during a day-long series of presentations and a poster session.

Albion College’s Honors Convocation is the year-end celebration of excellence across all 23 academic departments. With the awards listed below, the Albion College faculty reward their most accomplished and promising scholars.

Scotts student Logan Hutchinson co-presented “Synthesis of a Light-Activatable Checkpoint Inhibitor as a Targeted Chemotherapeutic for the Reduction of Unwanted Side Effects” as a featured session. Hutchinson is majoring in biochemistry. Hutchinson is the child of Shauna and Aaron Hutchinson of Scotts and is a graduate of Vicksburg Community High School.

Athens student Carter Mann received recognition for holding the top GPA among the Class of 2026 during Albion College’s recent Honors Convocation. Mann is a sophomore at Albion College. Mann is the child of Christina and Jered Mann of Athens and is a graduate of Vicksburg Community High School.
