ABA Antitrust in the Americas conference to convene in Cartagena, May 19-20

The American Bar Association Antitrust Law Section will host its 2025 Antitrust in the Americas conference May 19-20 at the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena in Cartagena, Colombia. Government enforcers, corporate counsel and leading practitioners from across the Americas will meet to discuss the most important competition enforcement and policy issues shaping markets in the region.

In-depth panels will explore key developments in cartel investigations and leniency programs, highlighting recent cases and cross-border cooperation among agencies. Discussions will also examine the intersection of artificial intelligence, competition and privacy. The conference will further explore trends in abuse of dominance, jurisdictional differences regarding merger control and the increasing scrutiny of competition issues in the sports sector across the region.

On Monday, May 19, the leadership of Colombia’s Superintendence of Industry and Commerce will speak during a fireside chat, providing key insights into the agency’s competition policy and enforcement agenda.

The Enforcers’ Roundtable on Tuesday, May 20, will feature government officials from Costa Rica, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and Mexico who will focus on how political change across the Americas is changing the shape of antitrust and reforms underway in a number of jurisdictions.
