A Climax Rotary Club member was recognized at a Rotary Heroes Recognition event that was part of the District Conference May 3 at the Maritime Museum in South Haven.
Rob Scherer was recognized as “A True Rotarian” at the event.
Scherer has been a member of the Climax Rotary Club for 20 years and the president of the local Rotary club three times.
Over the years he has sponsored, coordinated, and supported many projects that have directly benefited the local community.
He has also supported many international projects through Rotary international.
“I am very honored to have been chosen by my fellow Rotarians for this award,” said Scherer.
“On behalf of our local Climax Rotary Club, I would like to thank all those in our community that have attended events, helped with community projects, or financially supported our fundraisers which we have conducted through the years. Through our dedicated members, we will continue to support our local school
and community where there are needs,” adds Scherer.
Scherer said the Climax Rotary Club is one of 57 clubs and almost 2,000 members in our Rotary District 6360 of Southwest Michigan. Rotary International is one of the largest service organizations in the world. The self-declared mission of Rotary is to “provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through (the) fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.” It is a non-political and non-religious organization.
Membership is by application or invitation and based on various social factors. There are more than 46,000 member clubs worldwide, with a membership of 1.4 million individuals, known as Rotarians. (Source Wikipedia).
