This year’s celebration recognized 14 distinguished centenarians, each with a unique story and lasting legacy in the community.
“Macomb County is proud to recognize the accomplishments and strength of our most senior residents,” said Macomb County Executive Mark A. Hackel. “Their lives are a living history of our region, and we are honored to celebrate with them and express our gratitude for all they’ve contributed over the decades.”
Organized by Macomb County Senior Services in collaboration with the Office of the County Executive, the Centenarian Celebration, also known as the Macomb 100 Club, offers an opportunity to reflect on the past century through the lived experiences of these incredible individuals. From personal stories of family, service and community to witnessing decades of change, each attendee represents an important thread in the fabric of Macomb County’s history.
“This celebration is one of the highlights of our year,” said Sheila Cote’, director of the Office of Senior Services. “It’s not just a moment to honor longevity, it’s a moment to listen, connect and be inspired by the wisdom and joy these individuals bring to our lives.”
Each centenarian, along with a guest, was invited to enjoy coffee, conversation and light refreshments. Honorees also received a commemorative certificate and a small gift from the County as a token of appreciation.
Individuals who will be 100 years of age or older in 2025 and wish to be recognized are encouraged to complete a short registration form.
The county will then follow up with a formal invitation for next year's celebration, including event details and location.
