Lawyers with 50 years of service celebrated


The State Bar of Michigan will host its annual 50-Year Golden Celebration luncheon from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, at St. John’s Resort in Plymouth, honoring colleagues who have been State Bar members since 1975.

Registration to attend can be made by visiting www.michbar.org/50year. (Honorees may register to receive two complementary tickets.)

Formal invitations have been sent to honorees via email. Friends, family and colleagues are invited to join to celebrate the honorees’ milestone achievement.

The event will include time to visit with classmates and colleagues.

Messages of congratulations can be included in the Golden Celebration’s keepsake program, which will be distributed at the luncheon and mailed to honorees who do not attend.

Child welfare system improvements
focus of virtual summit


The National Center for State Courts will present a virtual summit on “The Missing Piece: Courts Integrating Lived Expertise into Child Welfare System Improvement” Thursday, May 29, from 1 to 4 p.m. via Zoom.

The event is designed for dependency court leaders, child welfare professionals, attorneys, and system partners to come together with experts to share insights, collaborate, and discuss strategies to partner with those who’ve experienced the system firsthand to implement system change efforts.

Attendees will:

• Learn how to effectively engage lived-experience experts in dependency court policy.

• Explore collaborative strategies for system improvement.

• Contribute to the creation of a more just and family-centered approach to dependency court.

The summit is presented in partnership with Casey Family Programs.

Attorney explores law practice management


The State Bar of Michigan Law Practice Management & Legal Administrators Section will host a conversation with attorney Mike Morse, founder of Mike Morse Law Firm, on Thursday, June 12, from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom.

Morse with John Nachazel authored a book titled “Fireproof,” which covers many law practice management topics called,“Fireproof.”
