Class of 2025 valedictorians and salutatorians honored


The Climax Crescent would like to extend a big congratulations to the Climax-Scotts graduating class of 2025.

Graduation ceremonies were held May 22 at Climax-Scotts High School.

Each year the Crescent publishes a brief profile on the class valedictorian and salutatorian.

Beth DeWaal is the class Valedictorian and Nora Lynn is the class Salutatorian.

Below are profiles on the C-S Valedictorian and Salutatorian, with the information provided by the students.

Beth DeWaal - Valedictorian


Parents names: Beth DeWaal and Micah DeWaal

Village, city or town you reside in: Scotts.

Any athletic, musical or scholastic accomplishments (i.e., scholarships you may have been awarded, All-State recognition, etc.):
Climax-Scotts Community Foundation Scholarship, Excellence in Education Award, Ellen Pierce Scholarship

Groups or organizations (in school or out of school) you have been involved in: Climax Scotts Varsity Cheer Team, Danced at In His Steps Dance Studio

Plans for college, the college or university you plan to attend, and what field or major you plan to pursue if you have one selected:
Finish my associates degree in early elementary education through early middle college at KVCC then transfer to Western Michigan University for my Associates Degree. I then plan to attend cosmetology school while I am teaching.

GPA: currently 3.91 (provided by the school district)

Nora Lynn C-S Salutatorian

Scholarship from Music Boosters for being in band since 6th grade, Versti For Life Scholarship, High Honor Roll in High School, Climax Scotts Community Foundation Scholarship

National Honor Society, Climax Scotts High School Jazz, Marching, Concert and Pep Band, Phi Theta Kappa (KVCC), Drama Club

Plans for college, the college or university you plan to attend, and what field or major you plan to pursue if you have one selected:
Finishing up as an EMC student at KVCC, before transferring to WMU to study Business Analytics

Graduation ceremonies at Galesburg-Augusta High School are scheduled for Friday, May 30 at 6 p.m. at G-A High School.

Undecided, major in computer science to pursue a career in software development

One thing about G-A High School that I thought made a huge impact in my education was dual enrollment. I participated in dual enrollment my junior and senior year and I loved learning about things at higher levels and faster paces.

Megan Ranes - Salutatorian

Volleyball SAC All Conference 1st Team - Central, Volleyball RAMS Award, Superintendant’s Award

Volleyball, Track and Field, Interact, National Honors Society

Plans for college, the college or university, and what field or major you plan to pursue, if you have one selected:
I will attend the University of Michigan in the fall, but I am undecided on what degree to pursue.
