Eight Wayne State University Law School students will gain hands-on experience and serve a range of organizations this summer through the 2025 Public Interest Law Fellowships and the 2025 Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office Stipend.
The 2025 Public Interest Law Fellowship recipients and their placements are:
• Angelo Alexander, rising 3L, State Appellate Defender’s Office (Detroit, Mich.)
• Abigail Detwiler, rising 3L, Sugar Law Center for Economic & Social Justice (Detroit, Mich.)
• Teodor Dhespollari, rising 3L, Great Lakes Environmental Law Center (Detroit, Mich.)
• Lizarayne Herrington, rising 3L, Volare’s Domestic Violence Legal Empowerment and Appeals Project (DV LEAP) (Washington, D.C.)
• Alexandra Parks, rising 3L, Washtenaw County Office of the Public Defender (Ann Arbor, Mich.)
• Gillian Rabine, rising 3L, State Appellate Defender’s Office (Detroit, Mich.)
• Victoria Thor, rising 3L, Neighborhood Defender Service (Detroit, Mich.)
The recipient of the 2025 Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office Stipend is Gabrielle Howitson, rising 3L.
Each Public Interest Law Fellowship recipient will volunteer 40 hours a week for ten weeks, collectively providing more than 2,500 hours of service to organizations serving the public and underrepresented communities.
Wayne Law established the Public Interest Law Fellowships in 2009 to provide students with meaningful experience in public interest law prior to graduation, help ease financial pressures, and offer vital assistance to organizations delivering legal services to underserved populations. Fellowship recipients are selected annually by a committee of Wayne Law faculty, staff, and alumni.
