Two Ram softball players recognized
Galesburg-Augusta senior Liliana Thompson and sophomore Emily Coleman were recently recognized with SAC Central Division post season honors.
Thompson was selected 1st team All Conference in the SAC Central Divison and Coleman was selected Honorable Mention All Conference in the SAC Central Divison.
Thompson led the Lady Rams with a .519 batting average (28-54) and drove in 14 runs. She had an impressive .944 slugging percentage after totaling seven doubles, five triples and two home runs. She had eight stolen bases without being caught and was the team leader in runs scored with 23.
She pitched in 12 games, starting nine. She struck out 62 batters in 49 innings pitched.
Coleman finished with a .459 batting average, sharing the team lead in hits (28) with Thompson in 23 games played. She drove in 12 runs and added three triples and five doubles.

Four Rams earn post season recognition

Four members of the Galesburg-Augusta varsity baseball team were recognized for their accomplishments on the field and two players received academic recognition.
Named To the All-SAC team was Ethan Gibson, Ashton Matrau, Alex Krugh and Jaden Fawcett.
All-District picks were Alex Krugh (pitcher), Ashton Matrau (catcher) and Ethan Gibson (infield).
Jaden Fawcett and Ethan Gibson were named Academic All-District.
Krugh finished the season batting .421 and drove in a team high 26 runs. He added 11 stolen bases without getting caught. Krugh, who walked 18 times and struck out only five times in 99 at bats, had a .525 on base percentage.
Krugh also flourished on the mound, compiling a 6-3 record with a 1.64 ERA. He struck out 83 batters in 42 and two-thirds innings pitched while holding opponents to a .159 batting average.
Matrau had a team high .456 batting average and drove in 24 runs. The G-A senior had a .734 slugging percentage after pounding out eight doubles, four triples and two home runs. He also had a .590 on base percentage, walking a team high 29 times. He added 19 stolen bases.
Matrau also enjoyed a strong season defensively, posting a .968 fielding percentage. He committed four errors in 126 fielding chances.
Matrau was 1-1 on the pitchers mound with a 3.46 ERA. He struck out 49 batters in 34 and one-third innings pitched.
Ethan Gibson finished with an impressive .446 on base percentage and was second on the team with a .446 batting average. He drove in 19 runs, scored a team high 44 runs and stole a team high 29 bases. He was caught stealing just three times.
Gibson also saw time on the pitchers mound, finishing with an 0-1 record with a 5.83 ERA in 12 innings pitched.
Fawcett led the pitching staff with nine wins, finishing with a 9-2 record and a 2.36 ERA. He struck out 68 batters and walked 13 in 50 and one-third innings pitched. He held opponents to a .197 batting average.
In the batters box, Fawcett had a .243 batting average and he drove in 15 runs. He had seven doubles.
The Rams won the SAC Central Division title for the third straight season with a 9-0 division record. The Rams finished with a 17-10 overall record.
