Kalamazoo County 4-H and the Kalamazoo Freedom School are teaming up to provide exciting and enriching summer programming for youth in grades K–12. This innovative partnership will offer young people the opportunity to explore new interests, develop valuable life skills, and make new friends in a safe and supportive environment.
Through a range of hands-on activities, leadership development opportunities, and other educational experiences, participants will be encouraged to discover their passions, build confidence, and strengthen their sense of community. Each Friday the participants will further engaged with off-site field trips. So, whether it’s through science experiments, creative arts, gardening, or civic engagement projects, every youth will have the chance to learn and grow this summer.
The Freedom School Youth Program for 2025 will run Monday through Friday, June 23-August 1, at the Kalamazoo Nature Center’s Heronwood Field Station, 6378 Hart Dr. in Kalamazoo. There will be no classes July 3 and 4.
Students are encouraged to join us to explore our strategic vision, innovative programming goals and the summer 2025 itinerary on June 20 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at The Foundry, 600 E. Michigan Ave. in Kalamazoo.
Enrollment is starting now. For enrollment forms, email Will Barnwell at barnwe18@msu.edu and bring them to the event on June 20.
