Armando Jourdain Streeter, 46, and his 76-year-old mother lived together in a home in St. Clair Shores. It is alleged that on April 15, Streeter physically beat his mother to death while using a broken broomstick handle.
A competency hearing was held Tuesday in the St. Clair Shores 40th District Court before Judge Mark Fratarcangeli.
A competency report said that Streeter is incompetent but is likely to regain competency with treatment.
He will be sent for restoration. A review hearing will be held in approximately 90 days.
Streeter is charged with second-degree murder and assault with intent to murder.
Both charges carry a life sentence. He is being held without bond.
“Our office will continue to monitor Mr. Streeter’s status closely and will resume prosecution when he is found competent to proceed,” said Prosecutor Peter Lucido. “This decision does not affect the charges brought or the seriousness of the alleged offenses.”
