A pretrial conference has been scheduled for July 7 in the 9th Circuit Court in Court 5400 before Judge Paul Bridenstine following a hearing on the case that took place June 12 in Court 5400.
According to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, a female and dog were found deceased in the 100 block of North Main Street October 26.
According to court documents, Adam Gerard Lyons, of 120 North Main Street, Climax, was charged with open murder for the alleged killing of Nichole Doerschler, two weapons and felony firearm charges, and one charge of killing/torturing an animal in the third degree at an arraignment hearing October 29.
According to Kalamazoo County Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jeff Williams, the court received a psychiatric report on Lyons prior to the June 12 hearing.
Williams said the defense indicated to the court June 12 enough information has been secured to move forward with the next process in the case.
Williams said at the July 7 pretrial the prosecution and defense will meet to discuss possible resolutions and/or whether the case should be set for trial.
Williams said the attorney for Lyons filed a notice of intent to seek an insanity defense earlier.
