State’s largest air show continues in Battle Creek

The Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival continues this weekend with family entertainment every day  at Battle Creek Executive Airport in Battle Creek.

July 4-6 is when the full blown air shows take place. These days will feature the United States Air Force Thunderbirds, United States Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, United States Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet RHINO Demo Team, and the United States Air Force F-35A Lightning II Demo Team.

“We are the only air show in Michigan that you’ll be able to see any of these acts at in 2025,” says Bailey. “It truly is an honor and treat to be able to host so many military demonstrations.”

That isn’t all though, the air show will also feature some new acts to Battle Creek including the “Jack Aces” a three-ship World War II P-51 Mustang formation team, the NextGen Eagles in their Christen Eagle biplanes, Kyle Fowler “GoEZ” Aerobatics in the LongEZ (which literally looks backwards), Adam Baker in the JET360 Extra 330, RJ Gritter in the Decathlon, and a rare appearance by the Volar Aviation TTP38, a ? scale homebuilt P-38 Lightning.

Of course, Battle Creek favorites are returning this year as well including Bill Stein in the Zivko Edge 540, Ken & Austin Rieder in their “Redline Airshows” RV-8s, Bob Carlton “Vertigo Airshows” in the Foxjet Twin Jet Sailplane, Kyle Franklin’s Flying Circus, Skip Stewart in the Modified Pitts “Prometheus”, and Hayden Proffitt II in the Smoke-n-Thunder Jet Shows “HOT STREAK II” ‘57 Chevy Jet Truck, which will be running every day of the event. The air show will also feature the usual crew of pyro from Rick Myers and the Firewalkers International Pyro team and award winning announcer, Phil Dacy. Notably absent from this year’s list is famed aviator Rob Holland, a Battle Creek regular, who passed away in April.

“It has been hard to work on planning this year knowing that we won’t have one of our best buds here this summer. You knew it was Field of Flight time when you saw that MXS-RH in the Battle Creek skies” says Bailey.

July 5th will feature a twofer, a day air show and a Night Air Show, all for the price of one. This show comes complete with nighttime pyro, aerial launched fireworks, wingtip pyro, lights, smoke, noise, and more! Acts expected to participate in the night portion of the show, which will be preceded by a Twilight Air Show, include the US Army Golden Knights, Bob Carlton “Fire & Lights”, Kyle Fowler, Redline Airshows, and the “HOT STREAK II” Jet Truck.
