Jury trial process in Climax murder case scheduled to begin September 16

By Bruce Rolfe

While a pretrial conference in the Village of Climax murder case scheduled for July 7 did not take place in court, the defense attorney and prosecuting attorney agreed to begin jury selection September 16 at 9 a.m. for a trial.

A court official said there is also the possibility the two sides could come to a plea agreement.

According to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, a female and dog were found deceased in the 100 block of North Main Street October 26.

According to court documents, Adam Gerard Lyons, of 120 North Main Street, Climax, was charged with open murder for the alleged killing of Nichole Doerschler, two weapons and felony firearm charges and one charge of killing/torturing an animal in the third degree at an arraignment hearing October 29.

The jury selection and trial, if it takes place, will be held in the 9th Circuit Court in Court 5400 before Judge Paul Bridenstine.
