This year’s event will take place Sunday, Aug. 10, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Mike Morse Law Firm parking lot at 24901 Northwestern Hwy. in Southfield.
The firm’s Project Backpack initiative is dedicated to helping kids start the school year off right by giving them backpacks stuffed with essential items including pencils, crayons, scissors, pencil pouches and sharpeners, and pocket folders.
The giveaway is open to all Metro Detroit students in grades K–5. Each backpack includes vital supplies such as pencils, crayons, scissors, pencil pouches, and a sharpener.
In addition to backpacks, attendees can enjoy a day of family-friendly fun, including:
• Free Kona Ice and food trucks
• Spray tattoos and inflatable games
• Raffle prizes, including a Detroit Lions jersey, a bicycle, Air Jordan sneakers, an iPad, laptop, Nintendo Switch, $100 gift cards, and more
“For the past twelve years, Project Backpack has been our way of ensuring that every child starts the school year with the tools they need to succeed,” said Mike Morse, founder of Mike Morse Law Firm. “Education is the foundation of opportunity, and we’re proud to support local students by helping them feel confident, prepared, and valued as they head back to school.”
Backpacks will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-registration is encouraged, but not required, and can be done by visiting www.855MIkeWins.com.
