Legal writing, editing examined during  ABA?webinar


The American Bar Association will present the webinar “Editing for Excellence: Practical Steps to Refine Your Legal Writing” on Thursday, Aug. 21, from 1 to 2 p.m.

This program will discuss time-management strategies to plan for legal writing with editing in mind as well as implementing consistent self-editing steps before additional review of legal writing.

Those attending also will learn how to develop effective workflows between writers and editors to ensure an excellent work product.

New weapon against drunk driving discussed online


The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan will present the Traffic Safety Training Program Webinar on “TSTP-1-9000: Michigan’s Newest Weapon Against Drunk Driving” Thursday, Aug. 28, from noon to 1:30 p.m. via Zoom.

The lntoxilyzer 9000 is Michigan’s newest weapon in the fight against drunk drivers. 

These breath testing instruments are maintained by the Michigan State Police and have now replaced all Datamaster DMT instruments in the state. .

Prosecutors handling operating while intoxicated (OWi) cases involving breath test results must be familiar with the lntoxilyzer 9000 and its administrative rules to successfully introduce breath test results at trial and effectively rebut any defense challenges that may arise. 

Speaking at the webinar will be Michigan Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutors Kinga Canike and Eric Wanink.

Webinar focuses on child abuse cases


The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan’s Child Abuse Prosecution Resources unit (CAPR) will present the webinar “Building a Case for Court: Understanding the Elements of Crimes in Child Abuse Cases” on Thursday, Sept. 4, beginning at 1 p,m. via Zoom.

During the webinar, CAPR Director Pamela Maas will discuss what prosecutors need to prove to be able to establish cases and will provide investigators with the information that can focus their investigations.
