The Climax-Scotts Education Association and C-S School Board agreed to a three-year pact, with the Board unanimously approving the collective bargaining agreement at the district’s regular school board meeting Monday, 7-0.
The teachers also ratified the agreement.
C-S Superintendent of Schools Doug Newington said in year 1, the district adjusted steps 1-20 individually, making the district more competitive with other districts through those steps.
Newington adds historically the district’s first steps and last steps, on a 1-30 step scale, were competitive, but the district fell behind in the middle steps. He said other districts salaries increased faster than C-S did. The adjustment will correct that.
The C-S superintendent adds after step 20 C-S teachers will receive annual longevity steps.
Newington said for year 2 and 3 the teachers will receive a step plus 3%.
