Event at Scotts Mill Park will be family oriented
Fall Festival, sponsored by the Scotts Olde Tyme Power & Equipment Association and held on October 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Scotts Mill County Park, will be geared towards the entire family.
Scotts Mill County Park is located at 8451 S. 35th Street in Scotts.
King Perkins, one of the organizers of the event, said besides many of the typical activities that take place at this event, more activities for children will be featured.
He said one area will have a pile of saw dust where kids can search for coins that have been placed in the saw dust.
While it is not certain yet, the group may also have a basketball hoop type of setup near a gravity wagon that will allow children to shoot a basketball and the ball will exit out of the gravity wagon, back at the shooter.
Families can take a wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch where a variety of pumpkins will be waiting for kids to pick out.
The kiddie train will also be ready to take children on rides.
Perkins feels based on comments he heard at the July Steamer Show when more than 100 tractors participated and drew in new members, participation numbers for Fall Fest are looking good.
“I think this is going to be a bigger event because we’re the only thing going on that weekend in this area,” said Perkins, who estimated there could be 30-50 tractors at the October 4 Fall Festival event.
There will be baked goods in the log cabin and a food truck selling hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, pop and water will be on site.
The sawmill and shingle mill will be operating for demonstrations and there will be hit ‘n miss engine, wheat threshing and husker shredder demonstrations.
Antique tractors, steam engines, vendors, a playground and nature trails are also available to enjoy. Oliver will be the featured tractor. Old cars and trucks are also welcome.
Vendor spaces are available by calling Tim at 269-718-9857.
