Local man won’t compete in Mullet Championship

Todd Grubb, 61 of Galesburg, will not enter the USA Mullet Championships next year after a successful three year run including this year when the Galesburg man did not finish in the top 3 in his division after a two year run winning the adult category.

Grubb advanced to the top 25 finalists in the adult category, however the USA Mullet Championships website only listed the top 3 winners in each category.

The nationwide Mullet Championship event was founded in 2020 as an avenue to raise money for veterans.

Grubb, a 1984 graduate of Galesburg-Augusta High School,  was the Jared Allen’s Home For Wounded Warriors USA Mullet contest winner in the adult category in 2023 and 2024. He finished fifth overall in the nation in 2023

Grubb raised over $8,500 this year, adding to a very impressive total he has raised for the Jared Allen’s Home For Wounded Warriors Foundation.

After raising $3,800 in 2023, Grubb was the top donor in 2024, raising $20,027. The $5,000 he won for finishing first last year he donated back to the Jared Allen’s Home For Wounded Warriors, for a total donation of $25,000 to the fund in 2024.

“I am retiring after this year. There will be no next year. I am very appreciative of the people that did get involved and donate money for our veterans,” said Grubb, who used the profile name “Flow Motion” for the contest.

There was a kids division, teen division and adult division, which Grubb competed in. He said the adult division was 18 and up this year instead of the 55 and older category he competed in last year.
