Warren man facing second-degree murder charge referred for mental health evaluation

Macomb County authorities have announced that 20-year-old Kayvon Briscoe-Hall will receive a mental health evaluation to determine if he is competent to stand trial on second-degree murder charges for allegedly shooting his housemate on Oct. 2.

A probable cause hearing was held Tuesday was held for Briscoe-Hall before Judge Suzanne Faunce at the 37th District Court in Warren.

Briscoe-Hall’s defense counsel requested an evaluation for Competency and Culpability. The court granted the request and set a date of Dec. 2 to review the evaluation results and status of the case.

Briscoe-Hall is held without bond at the Macomb County Jail. He is facing the following charges:

Homicide – Murder – Second-Degree, a life or any term of years felony

Weapons - Felony Firearm, a 2-year felony, consecutive to main charge
