Gable, a longtime member of the Wayne Law faculty, a former Associate Dean and former interim dean, brings deep institutional knowledge and a strong record of leadership to his new role. He will guide the Law School through this period of transition, continuing to advance its mission of academic excellence, public service, and community impact.
“It is an honor to help steward Wayne Law’s extraordinary momentum,” said Gable. “Dean Bierschbach’s leadership has strengthened every facet of our community, and I look forward to building on that foundation as we continue to prepare exceptional lawyers, leaders, and advocates.”
Wayne Law continues to earn national recognition for its excellence. In the 2025 U.S. News & World Report rankings, the law school remains among the Top 75 law schools in the nation, with particular strengths in Environmental Law, Clinical Training, and Part-Time Programs.
The law school’s reputation for rigor and impact is reflected in its growing demand. Applications increased by more than 14% this year, and the incoming 1L class is one of the strongest in school history, with a median LSAT of 164 and median GPA of 3.89.
Wayne Law faculty and centers continue to lead nationally on issues that matter most. The Levin Center for Oversight and Democracy celebrated its tenth anniversary with a landmark event featuring U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin and former U.S. Representative John Katko, while also releasing its groundbreaking People-Centered Oversight report—an innovative framework now shaping oversight practices nationwide. Professor John Mogk received the 2025 John W. Reed Michigan Lawyer Legacy Award for his 57 years of exceptional teaching, scholarship, and service.
“Our faculty, students, and staff represent the best of what public legal education can be,” said Gable. “Wayne Law’s commitment to service, access, and justice remains as strong as ever.”
Dean Bierschbach is expected to return to the Law School ahead of its centennial celebration in 2027. Under Gable’s leadership, the school will continue building toward that milestone with pride and purpose.
