Corporate, taxation, and estate planning attorney Conor M. Bowers recently joined Butzel as an associate in the firm’s Troy office.  

Bowers is an advisor to businesses and individual clients. He is known for his ability to translate intricate tax rules into practical strategies that help clients achieve their goals – whether that means structuring a sophisticated transaction, business planning, or navigating a high-stakes tax controversy.

Before joining Butzel, Bowers built a foundation in law and accounting. He served as a business associate at a Michigan-based business law firm, where he worked on business, taxation, and estate planning matters. He also gained national perspective as a tax consultant with a Big Four accounting firm, advising clients on federal tax issues and credit and incentive programs. Earlier in his career, Bowers clerked for Judge Mark Cimino of the Tax Court of New Jersey, managing state and local tax disputes. 

Bowers is a member of the State Bar of Michigan Taxation and Young Lawyers Sections.  He earned law degrees from Georgetown University and Syracuse University College of Law, and a B.S. in Finance from Oakland University.

Based in the Detroit office, Bialick helps individuals, families, and their closely-held businesses resolve any legal issues they face and develops effective estate and business plans designed to meet his clients’ goals and safeguard their legacy. He has experience counseling clients in estate, income, and gift tax planning matters and has developed revocable living, charitable, special needs, and irrevocable trusts and other estate planning instruments.

Before joining Bodman, Bialick was a partner at a Michigan-based estate planning law firm where he managed the firm’s main office. He has been recognized in Michigan Rising Stars since 2020 under Estate Planning & Probate.

Bialick is a graduate of University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University.

Wayne State University Law School
has announced the appointment of Professor Lance Gable as acting dean, following Wayne Law Dean Richard Bierschbach’s selection to serve as Interim President of Wayne State University. 

Gable, a longtime member of the Wayne Law faculty, a former Associate Dean and former interim dean, brings institutional knowledge and a record of leadership to his new role. He will guide the law school through this period of transition, continuing to advance its mission of academic excellence, public service, and community impact. 

“It is an honor to help steward Wayne Law’s extraordinary momentum,” said Gable. “Dean Bierschbach’s leadership has strengthened every facet of our community, and I look forward to building on that foundation as we continue to prepare exceptional lawyers, leaders, and advocates. 

“Our faculty, students, and staff represent the best of what public legal education can be,” added Gable. “Wayne Law’s commitment to service, access, and justice remains as strong as ever.” 

Bierschbach is expected to return to the Law School ahead of its centennial celebration in 2027.

Miller Canfield
is pleased to announce that Morgan Peters has joined the firm’s Financial Institutions Group in Detroit.

Peters brings experience advising on consumer financial regulations in high-volume lending environments. Most recently, she served as corporate counsel at United Wholesale Mortgage, where she counseled business and compliance teams on regulatory requirements under TILA, RESPA, FCRA, ECOA, and UDAAP, ensuring compliance in credit reporting, servicing, and consumer communications.

Her practice background also includes commercial real estate transactions, immigration law, and corporate compliance. Peters began her legal career at Shumaker, Loop, & Kendrick LLP in Toledo, where she focused on commercial real estate matters, and later practiced at Ellis Porter in Ann Arbor.

Peters earned her law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law. She received her B.A. in political science from Wayne State University.

Plunkett Cooney
recently added attorney Alexander Wilson to its Transportation Law Practice Group.

A member of the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office, Wilson focuses his practice in the areas of motor vehicle negligence and No-Fault Law litigation defense.

Wilson represents national insurers in first- and third-party motor vehicle negligence matters and uninsured and underinsured motorist claims. His experience includes strategic planning with his insurer clients to resolve anticipated liability claims and providing legal opinions regarding coverage and priority disputes.  

In addition, Wilson has experience in business law, representing clients in contract law and negotiations, as well as assisting content creators across social media platforms in negotiations of brand deals to ensure strategic growth in the ever-evolving digital space.

Wilson is a 2021 graduate of New England Law in Boston. He received his undergraduate degree from Grand Valley State University in 2017.

Taft
Detroit attorney Vincent Sallan has been appointed to the Editorial Board for LACHES, the official publication of the Oakland County Bar Association. The magazine features articles written by Oakland County Bar Association members on topics within their areas of legal focus.

Sallan focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and general business disputes. He has experience across various industries, including healthcare, telecommunications, real estate, financial services, and insurance. He has practiced before state and federal trial courts, appellate courts, as well as administrative bodies.

attorney Stacey L. King has been named a 2025 Go To Lawyer in Negligence Law by Michigan Lawyers Weekly.   

A trial attorney with a legal career spanning 27 years, King has courtroom experience honed through many jury trials throughout various venues in Southeast Michigan, including securing No-Cause of Action verdicts in approximately 80% of those cases.

King has been repeatedly honored by Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers. In 2013, she was further distinguished as a Michigan Lawyers Weekly Outstanding Woman of Law.
