From The October 23, 2015 Climax CrescentFrancis Smith Was A Real Friend Of Climax-Scotts School District And True Giver
The horrific event of losing a brother and best friend during World War Il combat at a young age in the span of a few months had such a lasting impact on Francis Smith, the former Scotts resident used the tragedy to start a scholarship fund to remember his brother and best friend that ultimately will link Francis to one of the many legacies he leaves behind.
Even up to his final days on this earth, Francis was driven to keep the memory of his brother, Warren Rex Smith, and best friend, Kenny Snyder alive after both were killed serving their country over seas some 70 years ago.
Francis Smith passed away peacefully Saturday morning at Kairos Dwelling, at the age of 91.
