This coming Saturday – Nov. 1 – Scouting America units that are participating in the annual food collection event will be dropping-off grocery bags in local neighborhoods in Macomb County to help promote participation in this important event.
Residents who receive a grocery bag are being asked to fill that bag (and others) with non-perishable food items and leave it on their porch the morning of Saturday, Nov. 8 (before 9 a.m.), when the scouts will return to pick-up your donation.
For residents that do not receive a grocery bag on November 1, food donations can also be dropped-off at Weingartz, located at 46061 Van Dyke in Utica. All food donations are then funneled to the
Community Food Bank of Macomb County and distributed to the public through its network of pantries and other outreach channels.
“This year’s Scouting for Food collection event marks the 14th year of the partnership between Scouting America and the Community Food Bank of Macomb County,” said Linda Azar, division director at Macomb Community Action. “Since 2020, annual collections have yielded an average of approximately 15,000 pounds of food. We encourage everyone to participate.”
