Obituary: Philip J. Anderson

Philip J. Anderson

Philip J. Anderson, a longtime Mount Clemens attorney who ended his career serving as Macomb County Probate Court administrator, died on Oct. 20 at the age of 80.

Anderson grew up in Royal Oak and attended Shrine Catholic Schools, then went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Xavier University and later his law degree from the University of Detroit School of Law.

He married Pauline in 1972 and together they raised their family in Romeo, where they lived for 26 years before moving to Shelby Township.

Anderson had a private law practice in Mount Clemens for 39 years, then served as probate court administrator until his retirement in 2012.

A lifelong Michigander, boating on the Great Lakes was one of Anderson’s greatest passions.

Time spent “Up North” always brought him a deep sense of calm and happiness, according to friends and family. It was noted as well that Anderson will be remembered for his warmth, integrity and the deep love he shared with family and  friends.

Philip is survived by his wife, Pauline; his children, Erica Anderson, David (Becky) Anderson, and Paul (Nao) Anderson; and his six granddaughters — Emilia, Ava, Stella, Audrey, Rui and Miyu.
