A settlement conference in the Village of Climax homicide case has been adjourned to Nov. 26 at 1:30 p.m. in the 9th Circuit Court in Court 5400 before Judge Paul Bridenstine with a jury trial scheduled to start on Dec. 2.
Kalamazoo County Assistant Prosecutor Jeff Williams said a settlement conference is the last chance for a defendant to plead before a trial and to handle any last-minute issues which might impact a trial. Williams adds both attorneys and the defendant would be present. Opening statements and testimony is expected when the jury trial begins Dec. 2.
According to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, a female and dog were found deceased in the 100 block of N. Main Street Oct. 26, 2024.
According to court documents, Adam Gerard Lyons, of 120 N. Main Street, Climax, was charged with open murder for the alleged killing of Nichole Doerschler, two weapons and felony firearm charges and one charge of killing/torturing an animal in the third degree at an arraignment hearing Oct. 29, 2024.
