After more then five weeks of an investigation stemming from complaints regarding Climax-Scotts varsity football coach Tyler Langs, curiosity remains at high levels in Panther Nation.
Langs, also the dean of students and athletic director at C-S, is currently on paid administrative leave from his employment within the district in all capacities.
While there have been plenty social media posts offering opinion and comments, facts are not yet available to reveal.
However C-S Superintendent Doug Newington hopes more information will be available after the Thanksgiving break.
Newington offered the following statement:
“The District has received complaints from parents, students, and community members regarding the current football coach. Because this is a personnel matter, the District is not able to comment on the allegations. To ensure fairness for all parties, we engaged an independent investigator to conduct a thorough and unbiased review. This work is ongoing. We understand the community’s interest in this matter and expect to have more information after the Thanksgiving break, which will guide the next steps of the process.”
Langs was not present for the final regular season game at Pittsford and C-S’ two playoff games against Gobles and Martin.
Current assistant coach and former longtime C-S head football coach Kevin Langs served as head coach in his son’s absence the last three games of the season.
The starting quarterback on the 2004 State Champion C-S football team, Langs is a 2006 graduate of C-S High School.
The 2025 season was Tyler Langs’ fourth year as head coach at C-S after he served as co-head coach with his father in 2021.
Tyler was an All-State selection in 2005 as a defensive specialist. He attended Wheaton University where he played four years including three as a
starting defensive back.
Langs served as the head football coach at Delaware County Christian School in 2013 and 2014 before returning to Michigan.
He was athletic director, dean of students, and varsity football head coach at Unionville Sebewang Area Schools in 2015 and 2016, was athletic director, dean of students and head varsity football coach at Centreville in 2017, 2018, and 2019 and served as an assistant coach at Plainwell.
Tyler was hired by the C-S School District to take over the dean of students role his father held since 2012 and the athletic director position his father served in since 2000, beginning with the 2021-2022 school year.
