A settlement conference in the Village of Climax homicide case that was scheduled to take place November 26 has been adjourned to January 16 at 9 a.m. in the 9th Circuit Court in Court 5400 before Judge Paul Bridenstine.
The adjournment also pushes back the scheduled start of the jury trial from December 2 to January 21 beginning with jury selection at 8:30 a.m., also in the 9th Circuit Court 5400 before Judge Paul Bridenstine.
Kalamazoo County Assistant Prosecutor Jeff Williams said a settlement conference is the last chance for a defendant to plead before a trial and to handle any last-minute issues which might impact a trial. Williams adds both attorneys and the defendant would be present.
According to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, a female and dog were found deceased in the 100 block of North Main Street October 26, 2024.
According to court documents, Adam Gerard Lyons, of 120 North Main Street, Climax, was charged with open murder for the alleged killing of Nichole Doerschler, two weapons and felony firearm charges and one charge of killing/torturing an animal in the third degree at an arraignment hearing October 29, 2024.
