In January 2025, Sterling Heights Police conducted a traffic stop of 33-year-old Sorrell. As Sorrell was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant, officers allegedly saw a bag of pills in Sorrell’s driver side door pocket.
It is alleged the pills were Acetaminophen and Oxycodone Hydrochloride, a Schedule 2 controlled substance for which Sorrell did not have a valid prescription.
Last Thursday, a probable cause conference was held before Judge Eric Shepherd in the 41A District Court in Sterling Heights.
At that hearing, Sorrell waived his right to a preliminary exam and was bound over to the Macomb County Circuit Court.
A date for arraignment is not set.
Sorrell is charged with Controlled Substances – Possession Less than 25 grams, a 4-year felony. He also has a Habitual Offender – Third Offense Notice which is an aggravating sentencing factor.
