Criminal charges filed against two men over alleged paternity test fraud

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido has announced that Mark McCracken, a 34-year-old resident of Clinton Township, and Derek Harrison, a 36-year-old man from Roseville, have been arraigned on charges after the two allegedly tried to undermine a DNA paternity test.

It is alleged McCracken and Harrison organized to have Harrison impersonate McCracken’s identity in a court ordered DNA paternity test.

On Sept. 12, Harrison allegedly signed in at the Macomb County Administration Building as McCracken and subsequently submitted his DNA representing himself as McCracken.

Both men were arraigned earlier this month on charges of Tampering with Evidence, a 4-year felony, before Magistrate Ryan Zemke at the 41B District Court in Clinton Township.

Both defendants have Habitual Offender Fourth Offense Notices that could result in a prison sentence of up to 15 years if convicted on the underlying charge.

The two remain in custody at the Macomb County Jail.
