‘Data Dives: Hot Topics for 2026’

The National Center for State Courts will present the webinar “Data Dives: Hot Topics for 2026” Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 3 to 4 p.m.

This first Data Dives webinar of the year will explore the latest data trends that could shape the future of court operations. 

It will highlight five hot data topics for the year and discuss what staff are seeing in courts across the country.

Speaking at the webinar will be Andre Assumpcao, chief data strategist, NCSC.

SBM section looks at the old and the new


Real Property Law Section (RPLS) of the State Bar of Michigan will present a virtual program on “Recent Legislation and Hot Topics on the Horizon” Thursday, Jan. 15, from 3 to 4 p.m.

The online program provides and opportunity to stay up to date on recent legislation and executive orders, and get a preview of new legislation, that may be on the horizon. RPLS Legislative Committee Chair Roxana Zaha, of Butzel Long, will begin with a discussion of new legislation affecting real property that has been passed into law during the last year. Next participants will hear from the Section’s lobbyist, Tabitha Zimny, who will provide an update on bills that are currently pending in the state legislature. 

Registration fees are $25 for RPLS members, $5 for non-section members.

Nominations sought for

2026 Rep Assembly awards


Attorneys can now submit nominations for the State Bar of Michigan’s 2026 Representative Assembly awards, which honor fellow Michigan attorneys for outstanding achievements.
Every year the Rep Assembly, the final policy-making body of SBM, bestow two awards.

The Michael Franck Award honors a Michigan attorney who has contributed to improving the legal profession.

The Unsung Hero Award honors a Michigan attorney who exhibits the highest standards of practice and commitment to the benefit of others.

Nominees for the awards must be State Bar of Michigan members in good standing. The honors can be for contributions made in the past year or a cumulative effort over several years.
