Clinton Township woman sentenced after conviction of assault with intent to murder

A 30-year-old Clinton Township woman was sentenced last week after being convicted by a jury of assault with intent to murder.

Jennifer Hayes was sentenced last Thursday by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Jennifer M. Faunce to 10.5 to 30 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Hayes is to have no contact with the victim directly or indirectly while serving her sentence. She is ordered to pay the victim restitution under the Crime Victim’s Rights Act.

The conviction stems from n incident in July 2024 in which Hayes stabbed her boyfriend multiple times with two knives causing him severe life-threatening injuries.

The attack began while the victim was sleeping in their home in Clinton Township.

He suffered a total of 14 stab wounds, including one to the side of his neck. It took at least four hours for the victim to be discovered by a neighbor who immediately contacted emergency services.
