Discussing ways to avoid ‘pitfalls’
with the AGC and JTC


The Wolverine Bar Association will conduct its January Membership Meeting on Thursday, Jan. 22, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sip -n- Read Book Bar, 1620 Michigan Ave., Ste 122, in Detroit.

The meeting topic will be “Avoiding Pitfalls with the AGC and JTC” featuring Dawn Ison of the Judicial Tenure Commission and Kimberly L. Uhuru of the Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission.

Association plans visit to
Holocaust Memorial Center


The Diversity Committee of the Eastern District of Michigan Bar Association will observe the International Holocaust Rememberance with a visit to The Zekelman Holocaust Memorial Center on Sunday, Feb. 1, from noon to 3:30 p.m.

Participants will hear from a Holocaust survivor, tour the museum, and reflect afterwards by sharing a meal at a next door venue. Family and friends are all welcome.  

The Zekelman Holocaust Memorial Center is located at  28123 Orchard Lake Road in Farmington Hills.  

The survivor talk will start promptly at noon.  Participants should plan to arrive no later than 11:45 a.m.

Cost for the museum and meal is $33 for adults and $26 for kids.  Cost for the museum only is $8. To register, visit https://edmibar.org and click on “events.”


Careers in art, entertainment law
explored at seminar


The Arts, Communication, Entertainment, and Sports Sections (ACES) of the State Bar of Michigan along with the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law will present “Careers in Arts & Entertainment Law” featuring Paul Rosenberg and Howard Hertz.

The conversation with Rosenberg and Hertz discussing entertainment law and the journey of their careers will take place Thursday, Feb. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. in room 226 at Detroit Mercy Law, 651 East Jefferson Avenue in Detroit.  

Rosenberg is known for being a longtime manager of Eminem, founder of Goliath Artists and president of Shady Records. He is also the former chairman and CEO of Def Jam Recordings.
Hertz formed the law firm of Hertz Schram in 1979. He specializes in entertainment law, and since 1976, he has represented numerous artists and entities in the entertainment field.
