Mount Clemens man charged after allegedly ending argument by shooting his neighbor

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido has announced that Jared Harris, 28, of Mount Clemens, has been arraigned on charges including assault with intent to murder in connection with the alleged shooting of his neighbor.

It is alleged that Harris and the neighbor, both residents of the same apartment complex, had an ongoing dispute regarding noise. On Jan. 24, the two became involved in a verbal altercation. Harris allegedly produced a handgun and shot the victim in the abdomen.

Harris was arraigned Monday before Magistrate Ryan Zemke at the 41-B District Court in Clinton Township on the following charges:

Assault with Intent to Murder, a life or any term of years felony

Weapons - Felony Firearm, mandatory 2-year felony consecutive to main charge

These are the maximum charges available under the law based upon the evidence presented to date.

Zemke set Harris’s bond at $250,000 cash/surety. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim. Harris is scheduled for a probable cause conference on Feb. 3.
